Small Group Counseling
Small group counseling provides a supportive environment for students to express their thoughts and feelings about particular topics with their peers. These groups, generally comprised of 4-6 students, are short term. Groups are created based on data and parent or teacher referrals.
Small Groups meet, once per week during the school day for thirty-minute sessions. The weekly sessions include art projects, discussions, games, role-playing, stories & videos. Groups focus on specific topics & target those students most in need to provide support & build skills. Currently I am offering an on going group that touches on a variety of themes. Self regulation, coping skills, social awareness, growth mindset and grit are the topics that we will spend time exploring this year.
Mindful Movement is offered 3 times per week to help students develop mindfulness and coping skills as well as learn the benefits of yoga movement and poses in helping maintain focus and achieve personal goals.

Students can be referred if they are experiencing problems at home or school. Parents/guardians can refer a student by contacting by phone or email.
Ongoing counseling is not provided in the elementary school. However, students may be seen once or twice to assess the situation, recommend a student assistance group or provide resources for outside counseling to the family, if needed.
